Algiers, Algeria | The 13th edition of the Summer University for senior cadres of the Polisario Front and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) officially opened this Sunday at M’Hamed Bougara University in the Algerian province of Boumerdès, with the participation of Sahrawi Prime Minister Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoune.

Held under the evocative theme “Struggle and Sacrifice for Independence and Freedom,” the event brings together 400 senior officials and political figures from the Polisario Front and the SADR. The annual gathering serves as a pivotal platform for deliberation, education, and strategic coordination among Sahrawi leadership, amidst persistent regional tensions and diplomatic battles over the Western Sahara question.

The programme features a series of high-level conferences and panel discussions, focusing on the latest developments surrounding the Sahrawi cause, regional geopolitics, and international solidarity movements. Algerian officials, civil society representatives, and pro-independence activists are also expected to take part in the sessions, affirming Algeria’s unwavering support for the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

More than a mere intellectual forum, the Summer University symbolizes the enduring will of the Sahrawi people to achieve full sovereignty over their occupied territories. It also aims to consolidate the internal cohesion of the Polisario Front’s institutions and reinforce political education among its cadres, especially in a context marked by renewed diplomatic momentum and international legal debates over the status of Western Sahara.

As the Boumerdès conference gets underway, the Polisario Front reiterated its steadfast position: the Sahrawi people will continue their legitimate struggle — through both political and legal means — until justice prevails and independence is achieved.
