Minister Arkab Addresses Energy Concerns with Relizane Deputies

Algiers, Algeria | June 3rd, 2025 — In a high-level meeting aimed at accelerating energy development in Algeria’s provinces, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies Mohamed Arkab received a delegation of parliamentarians from the wilaya of Relizane on Tuesday. The delegation included Ms. Chouachi Aicha, Mr. Mazari Bouziane, and Mr. Salem Kaddour, members of the People’s National Assembly (APN).

The discussions focused primarily on pressing energy concerns in the region, particularly the electrification and gasification of underserved areas, the extension and reinforcement of the electricity network, and the urgent need to curb recurring power outages, especially during peak summer months. Senior ministry officials also attended the session, reflecting the strategic importance of the issues raised.

Special attention was given to the status of developmental projects, especially in the mining sector, with the goal of ensuring that infrastructural and industrial growth aligns with national energy goals.

Minister Arkab responded with firm reassurances, affirming that all concerns voiced by the deputies would be addressed through detailed technical studies and practical operational measures. He emphasized that ongoing projects must be completed within the designated timelines and called for an accelerated implementation pace, particularly for electricity transport and distribution infrastructure.

To this end, Arkab instructed ministry services to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the electricity supply situation in Relizane, with the aim of permanently resolving power disruptions, which have long hampered local economic activity and public comfort.
