Strengthening Ties with the Diaspora: Sofiane Chaïb Reaffirms Algeria’s Commitment to Its Nationals Abroad

Algiers – October 2025 – In a demonstration of Algeria’s sustained engagement with its citizens abroad, Sofiane Chaïb, Secretary of State in charge of the National Community Abroad, held a virtual meeting with Algerian nationals residing in Hamburg, Germany. The initiative coincided with the launch of a mobile consular office in the country — a measure designed to bring public service closer to the community and alleviate administrative burdens.
During the videoconference, Chaïb reaffirmed the Algerian government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its ties with the diaspora and ensuring their full inclusion in the nation’s developmental trajectory. He emphasized that the highest authorities in the country remain deeply attentive to the concerns and aspirations of Algerians living overseas, stressing that their contribution constitutes a vital extension of Algeria’s identity, influence, and national cohesion.
The Secretary of State instructed all diplomatic and consular missions to intensify outreach efforts by organizing regular mobile consular visits across regions with significant Algerian populations. This measure, he noted, aims to reduce unnecessary travel, streamline administrative processes, and facilitate access to essential documentation and services — from identity papers and passports to civil registration and legal assistance.
Chaïb underlined that such initiatives are part of a broader, people-centered vision led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which seeks to modernize consular services, reinforce communication with the diaspora, and cultivate a renewed sense of belonging among Algerians abroad.
Through this initiative, Algeria reiterates that its engagement with its expatriate citizens is not merely administrative but profoundly patriotic — reflecting a vision of unity that transcends borders and reaffirms the State’s dedication to protecting the rights, dignity, and interests of all its sons and daughters, wherever they may be.
