Algiers – December 2025 – The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) hosted today the second Algerian–Belarusian Economic Forum, held under the backdrop of the official visit of Belarusian President Alexander Grigorievich Lukashenko to Algeria, a visit described as a catalyst for reshaping the trajectory of bilateral relations.
In a keynote address that set the tone for the day’s proceedings, Artur Karpovitch, Belarus’s Minister of Competition Regulation and Trade, hailed the event as “historic,” underscoring its strategic significance in reinforcing economic and commercial ties between the two nations. “This visit opens a new page in the history of our relations and offers wide prospects for fruitful cooperation between our countries,” he affirmed, signalling Belarus’s readiness to elevate cooperation to new heights.
Karpovitch highlighted that the convening of the Forum coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Belarus—an occasion he described as an opportunity to assess past achievements while laying the groundwork for a more dynamic partnership. He stressed the pivotal role of economic and trade cooperation as a driver of bilateral development, asserting that the Forum stands as a robust platform for deepening exchanges and maximizing mutual benefits.
Building upon the momentum of the first Algerian–Belarusian Economic Forum held in 2018, Karpovitch reaffirmed that this new edition aims to consolidate commercial exchanges and expand areas of collaboration. He encouraged Algerian and Belarusian business leaders to engage actively in dialogue and partnership, emphasizing that “the active participation of economic operators is crucial to increasing trade volume and fully exploiting the potential available.”
The minister further pointed to the importance of implementing the actions outlined in the 2026–2027 cooperation roadmap, the signing of which is scheduled during the concluding phase of President Lukashenko’s visit. This roadmap, he indicated, will serve as a strategic instrument for operationalizing joint initiatives and translating political will into concrete economic outcomes.
Karpovitch extended an open invitation to Algerian enterprises to take part in major upcoming professional events in Belarus, including the International Industrial Machinery Exhibition in April 2026 and the Bela Agro International Agricultural Fair in June 2026. Participation in such events, he noted, is essential for fostering direct engagement, expanding networks, and promoting technological and commercial synergies.
Strengthening cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry of both countries also emerged as a central priority. According to Karpovitch, enhanced institutional cooperation will help stimulate trade, encourage investment flows, and build greater mutual confidence—an indispensable foundation for sustainable economic partnership.
Concluding his remarks with an air of optimism, the Belarusian minister expressed confidence in the success of the B2B negotiations taking place on the sidelines of the Forum. These exchanges, he said, are expected to “identify new partnership opportunities and consolidate economic relations between Algeria and Belarus,” paving the way for a more structured, ambitious, and mutually beneficial partnership.
