A Pulpit or a Cannon? How Al Arabiya Became a Tool of Zionist Propaganda

✍️ BY: Kamel Allag

Algiers – September 2025 –  Modern wars are no longer fought solely with tanks and artillery; they have morphed into battles of narratives, where the camera and the microphone become weapons capable of fabricating “alternative truths” whose impact is no less devastating than that of heavy ordnance.

This is precisely the role that Al Arabiya now plays, operating in the service of the Zionist occupation’s narrative. Beyond the recent revelations by Palestinian platforms regarding the arrest of one of its journalists—accused of filming a corpse believed to be that of Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson of the Al-Qassam Brigades, and transmitting the images to the enemy—another incident underscores the same pattern: the channel’s broadcast of a doctored recording, presented as an authentic statement by the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, alleging that Algeria had refused to send pilots to join the war effort against the Zionist entity.

Expert analysis swiftly exposed the broadcast as a crude fabrication, bereft of the most elementary indicators of authenticity. This only consolidates the image of Al Arabiya not as a journalistic platform, but as a propaganda tool—a mouthpiece masquerading as a newsroom.

The common denominator in these episodes is unmistakable: a calculated psychological war targeting Arab symbols, whether in the figure of Abu Ubaida, emblematic of the resilience of the resistance, or in the legacy of Abdel Nasser and Algeria’s historic role in confronting occupation.

For those with fading memory, one need only revisit Abdel Nasser’s own words in the aftermath of the 1967 defeat. While he candidly admitted military failure and called for a battle of steadfastness, he did not neglect to salute those nations that stood by Egypt—foremost among them Algeria, under the leadership of the late President Houari Boumediene. Nasser stated unequivocally that Algeria was the very first to offer its fighter jets, its soldiers, and to place its military capabilities fully at Egypt’s disposal.

This was no symbolic gesture of solidarity; it was a concrete, material contribution, manifested on the battlefield through the dispatch of squadrons of MiG aircraft, an armored battalion, and hundreds of troops.

And so we arrive at a simple but unsettling question: why do we never hear of Al Arabiya correspondents being targeted in Palestine as is the case with other journalists? The answer could not be clearer—those who align themselves with the occupier’s narrative are not perceived as adversaries to be silenced, but as useful instruments in the machinery of psychological warfare.

And salutations to those who return the greeting.
