A Stinging Rebuttal and a Free Lesson in History: Algerian News Agency Exposes Al-Arabiya’s Fabricated Narrative
✍️ BY: Dzair Tube
Algiers – September 2025 – In a forceful response to the latest fabrication aired by Saudi-owned channel Al-Arabiya, the Algerian News Agency (APS) denounced the network’s attempt to sow discord between Algeria and Egypt by circulating a digitally doctored video falsely attributed to the late Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser. Far from an isolated incident, APS described this maneuver as part of a calculated strategy designed to undermine two pivotal nations in the Arab and African worlds, serving the interests of one party only: the Western neighbor that rushed into normalization with Zionism.
According to APS, Al-Arabiya crossed a new threshold in its relentless campaign of media distortion by broadcasting what it claimed was archival footage of Abdel Nasser belittling Algeria’s contribution to the Six-Day War of 1967. This, APS underlined, once again reveals the channel’s true vocation: falsifying history, sowing division, and maligning nations most steadfast in defending just causes.
The agency posed a simple yet powerful question: Who fears the rapprochement between Algiers and Cairo? Who trembles at the shared positions of Algeria and Egypt, or at President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi’s call for a united Arab force? It noted that Egyptian officers, when recalling the October 1973 War, never fail to highlight Algeria’s decisive role—financially, militarily, and morally. They honor with deep respect the sacrifice of Algerian soldiers who fell on the frontlines defending their Egyptian brothers, and the heavy losses inflicted on Zionist forces thanks to their courage.
APS further reminded that this solidarity was epitomized by the historic initiative of late President Houari Boumediene, who personally traveled to Moscow to secure arms for Egypt and guaranteed payment himself. Such acts, it stressed, remain enduring testimony to a fraternity sealed in both hardship and triumph—a bond that explains the profound affection of the overwhelming majority of Egyptians toward Algeria.
Labeling the so-called “archive” as nothing more than a digitally manufactured deepfake, APS underscored that had Abdel Nasser ever made such statements, they would have been documented in world press, official records, or his well-known speeches. Their absence proves the fraud. Abdel Nasser, APS recalled, was among the fiercest opponents of Zionism, a consistent advocate of Arab unity, and an unwavering supporter of Algeria since its independence.
For APS, the recurrence of Algeria as a target in such smear campaigns is no coincidence. Rather, it stems from Algeria’s principled diplomacy—its solidarity with oppressed peoples, its refusal of imperial diktats, and its steadfast support for just causes. Attempting to fabricate a rift with Egypt, therefore, is nothing less than an assault on shared memory and a calculated effort to undermine historic bonds between two nations bound by blood and sacrifice.
The agency also issued a sharp warning regarding the manipulative tactics of Al-Arabiya, which extracts Algerian statements from their context, strips them of their original meaning, and repurposes them into political ammunition against Algeria and Arab unity. This cynical exploitation, APS stressed, is the very signature of a channel whose editorial line is tainted with bias and servitude to agendas hostile to Arab solidarity.
In conclusion, APS declared unequivocally that Al-Arabiya’s falsification of Abdel Nasser’s supposed words is nothing but another dark episode in the network’s long record of propaganda. History cannot be rewritten, nor can the Algerian–Egyptian friendship—cemented through struggle and blood—be erased by fabricated footage. Media campaigns may persist, but they will never succeed in obscuring Algeria’s role in Arab causes, nor in tarnishing the enduring stature of Nasser’s Egypt.
