Abdelkader Bengrina Strengthens Diplomatic Bridges with China: Dialogue on Political, Economic, and Global Justice Issues

Algiers – September 2025 – In a display of Algeria’s dynamic diplomatic activity, the National Headquarters of the El-Bina El-Watani Movement in Cheraga hosted, on Saturday, September 13, 2025, an important meeting between Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the Movement, and His Excellency Dong Guangli, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria. The ambassador, accompanied by his First Secretary Zhao Pingsheng and his media advisor, initiated the meeting to engage in a wide-ranging dialogue over political and economic files, as well as to reinforce channels of cooperation between El-Bina and the Communist Party of China.
Bengrina, flanked by senior party officials—including Younes Hariz, Member of Parliament and Head of the National Defense Committee, Dr. Rachid Anane, Head of Economic Affairs within the National Office, and Counselor to the President, Saleh Beloucif—welcomed the Chinese delegation with an emphasis on the longstanding historic ties binding Algiers and Beijing.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the robust level of political relations, but Bengrina stressed the need for the economic dimension to match the lofty ambitions of bilateral political cooperation. Recalling the shared historical stances of both nations, he highlighted that these legacies should serve as a catalyst for strengthening ties across all fields, particularly in the economic and technological sectors.
The meeting further underscored the growing importance of party-to-party cooperation. Ambassador Dong expressed his deep appreciation for the role played by El-Bina El-Watani in Algeria’s political landscape, noting the movement’s active engagement with both domestic and international issues. He commended the constructive and consistent presence of Bengrina’s movement across key national and regional files.
On the economic front, both parties identified strategic opportunities in agriculture, the electric vehicle industry, and the mining sector—areas now buoyed by Algeria’s newly adopted Mining and Investment Laws. Ambassador Dong reiterated China’s readiness to promote investment in these critical industries, signaling a mutual desire to transform bilateral economic relations into tangible, sustainable partnerships.
Beyond economics, the meeting ventured into pressing regional and global issues. Bengrina reaffirmed Algeria’s unshakable commitment to just causes, with particular emphasis on Palestine and Western Sahara. He lauded China’s principled stance on Palestine and called for Beijing to scale up its engagement in line with its global stature as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Bengrina stressed that China’s voice is crucial in advancing the legitimate right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in harmony with Algeria’s non-permanent seat at the Council.
For his part, Ambassador Dong restated China’s unwavering support for Palestinian statehood, referencing Beijing’s consistent efforts at the Security Council since the outset of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. He equally acknowledged Algeria’s bold diplomatic role in defending Palestine and other just causes on the global stage, praising the synergy between Algeria and China within multilateral forums.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepening cooperation under the guiding principles of mutual respect and national sovereignty. In a gesture that highlighted the growing depth of these ties, Ambassador Dong extended an official invitation to Bengrina to attend the upcoming “Dialogue of Civilizations between China and the Arab World,” scheduled for October in China.
