Abdelkader Djellaoui Launches the Development Project of Mécheria Airport

Algiers – October 2025 – In a new stride toward strengthening Algeria’s transport infrastructure and boosting regional development, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure Abdelkader Djellaoui officially launched, on Sunday, the development works at Mécheria Airport in the wilaya of Naâma.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the project specifically involves the construction and modernization of aircraft parking areas and civil runways, as part of a broader program to upgrade the country’s aviation facilities to meet international standards.
During his working visit, Minister Djellaoui attended a detailed presentation on the state of public works and infrastructure in the region, which outlined ongoing projects and strategic development perspectives for the medium and long term.
A Strategic Project for Regional Connectivity and Growth
The launch of the Mécheria Airport development project forms an integral part of the government’s sustained efforts to modernize and expand the national transport network, aimed at improving the quality of airport services and reinforcing Algeria’s logistical capacity.
This strategic infrastructure investment is expected to enhance the safety, efficiency, and operational fluidity of air traffic in the region, while also stimulating economic revival and facilitating trade and mobility in Algeria’s southwestern territories.
Minister Djellaoui reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, emphasizing that such projects reflect the state’s vision of creating “a modern, interconnected, and dynamic Algeria, capable of meeting the aspirations of its citizens and supporting balanced regional growth.”
