African Development Bank Signals Accelerating Momentum in Algeria’s Economic Outlook Through 2027

Recent assessments by the African Development Bank point to a resilient and progressively strengthening Algerian economy, underpinned by sustained investment flows, controlled inflation dynamics, and robust external buffers. The institution’s latest projections outline a trajectory of moderated growth in the near term, followed by a renewed acceleration driven by structural and fiscal factors.
According to the Bank, Algeria recorded a growth rate of 3.3 percent in 2025, slightly easing from 3.6 percent in 2024. This marginal deceleration, however, is framed within a broader pattern of stability rather than contraction. Looking ahead, growth is expected to regain momentum, reaching 3.9 percent in 2026 and converging toward 4 percent by 2027, reflecting a strengthening macroeconomic environment.
The underlying drivers of this expansion are primarily anchored in intensified investment activity, particularly through partnerships between Algerian stakeholders and foreign companies aimed at modernizing and expanding oil and gas production networks. These efforts are complemented by sustained public expenditure, notably directed toward the reinforcement of social infrastructure, alongside a marked increase in household consumption, which continues to support domestic demand.
Inflation trends further reinforce this positive outlook. The African Development Bank highlights a notable improvement in price stability, positioning Algeria among the stronger performers on the continent in terms of inflation control. This development enhances purchasing power resilience and contributes to a more predictable economic environment.
Equally significant is Algeria’s external financial position. The country maintains a secure level of foreign exchange reserves, placing it among the leading economies in North Africa in terms of reserve adequacy. This financial buffer not only underpins macroeconomic stability but also reinforces Algeria’s capacity to absorb external shocks, consolidating its standing as one of the more resilient economies across Africa.
Taken together, these indicators reflect an economy navigating global uncertainties with measured confidence, supported by a combination of strategic investment, prudent fiscal management, and strengthening internal demand. The trajectory outlined by the African Development Bank suggests that Algeria is not merely sustaining growth, but progressively consolidating the structural foundations necessary for long-term economic resilience.
