African Karate Championships: Algeria Secures 12 Medals, Including 2 Gold

Algiers, Algeria– Sunday, July 28, 2025 | The Algerian national karate team concluded the African Karate-do Championships for Cadets, Juniors, and Seniors (Kumite and Kata), held from July 25 to 27 in Abuja, Nigeria, with an impressive haul of 12 medals, including 2 gold, 3 silver, and 7 bronze.

The two gold medals were secured by Cylia Ouikene (-50 kg, Senior Kumite) and Aymen Benkhedda (Cadet Kumite, -52 kg).

On the silver podium, Narimene Dahleb (Senior Kata), Anis Halassa (-67 kg, Senior Kumite), and Oussama Zayed (-75 kg, Senior Kumite) delivered strong performances.

As for the seven bronze medals, they were earned by Louisa Abouriche (-55 kg, Senior Kumite), Khadidja Ghoulam (-61 kg, Senior Kumite), Karima Mekkaoui (-68 kg, Senior Kumite), Chaima Oudira (+68 kg, Senior Kumite), Felah Midoun (-84 kg, Senior Kumite), Hocine Daikhi (+84 kg, Senior Kumite), and Abderraouf Maansri (Junior Kata).

A total of 20 Algerian athletes, including 14 seniors, took part in the African Karate-do Championships (Kumite and Kata) in Abuja.
