African Startup Conference to Advance “Algiers Declaration” for Continental Innovation and Youth Entrepreneurship

Algiers – November 2025 – The upcoming African Startup Conference, scheduled from December 6 to 8 at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center under the High Patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is set to crystallize years of accumulated expertise and success into a visionary framework for elevating Africa’s most dynamic and high-impact startups. The event aims not only to showcase the continent’s most creative and efficient entrepreneurial ventures but also to galvanize youth entrepreneurship and nurture the rise of “African Champions” in cutting-edge technological and digital sectors.

In a press conference held Thursday morning, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises emphasized the remarkable progress Algeria has achieved in a short span of time. The country now boasts more than 10,000 registered startups, with around 100 capable of raising over one million dollars each, a testament to President Tebboune’s strategic prioritization of innovation-driven young enterprises.

A major highlight of this edition will be the concrete implementation of President Tebboune’s decision to provide financial support to young African project holders, thus bringing the “AU Youth Startup” program—first announced at the IATF 2025 in Algiers—into active reality. The initiative seeks to fund startups whose solutions directly address and transform continental challenges. Alongside this, new training sessions for African students will be launched in Algeria, reinforcing the country’s commitment to building a skilled and innovation-oriented youth ecosystem across Africa.

A pivotal component of the conference will be the ministerial working sessions, during which African ministers responsible for the sector will draft a “Draft Algiers Declaration on the Development of Startups in Africa.” They will also develop a complementary text outlining a “Reference Framework for Best Public Policies” designed to support entrepreneurship and innovation. Both documents, once completed, will be formally adopted by the African Union at the end of the process, paving the way for unified, continent-wide policy approaches.

In parallel, the conference will serve as a strategic platform for connecting African investors and funding institutions with emerging entrepreneurs, offering them unprecedented access to new markets across the continent. The highly anticipated “Summit of Champion Ministers” will bring together ministers and leading startup figures to debate the creation of enabling environments for innovation and the reinforcement of public policies that support entrepreneurial growth in Africa.
