Air Algérie Expands its Global Reach through a Strategic Code-Sharing Partnership with Qatar Airways

Algiers – November 2025 – Air Algérie has taken a decisive step toward strengthening its global footprint by entering a strategic code-sharing agreement with Qatar Airways, marking a new phase in its international expansion strategy aimed at enhancing its competitiveness, connectivity, and global service offering.
According to an official communiqué, this landmark partnership will enable Air Algérie passengers to access a wider range of destinations across Asia and the Middle East via Qatar Airways’ extensive network. The agreement opens up new routes to major global hubs, including Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Hong Kong in China, and Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman, thereby positioning Air Algérie as a key regional player capable of offering diversified and seamless travel options to its clientele.
In return, Qatar Airways will gain access to six Algerian cities served by Air Algérie from its Algiers hub — namely Constantine, Oran, Annaba, Tamanrasset, Tindouf, and Timimoun — significantly expanding its reach within North Africa and reinforcing its footprint on the African continent.
Ticket sales for these new routes officially began on Monday, while the inaugural code-share flight under this partnership is scheduled for November 15, 2025. This milestone underscores both airlines’ shared ambition to deliver broader connectivity and world-class service to travelers navigating between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
This cooperation is part of Air Algérie’s renewed strategic vision centered on modernizing its network, improving service quality, and integrating international best practices to meet global aviation standards. Commenting on this development, Sami El-Karim Boutemadja, Air Algérie’s Director of Commercial Affairs, emphasized the significance of this alliance, stating: “The partnership with Qatar Airways will allow Air Algérie to strengthen its presence in the Middle East and Asia while offering passengers greater flexibility and promoting Algeria as a key travel destination.”
For his part, Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer of Qatar Airways, expressed his satisfaction with the deepened collaboration, affirming: “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Air Algérie. This agreement consolidates our presence in major African markets and provides travelers with more choices and a smoother travel experience between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.”
Antinori also highlighted the pivotal role of Doha’s award-winning Hamad International Airport — ranked the world’s best airport in 2021, 2022, and 2024 — as a global hub connecting continents and facilitating enhanced air traffic between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Both airlines have confirmed that this cooperation is only the beginning, with future extensions of the code-sharing agreement already under discussion to encompass additional destinations. This enduring and ambitious partnership between Air Algérie and Qatar Airways thus marks a significant milestone in the evolution of African–Middle Eastern aviation synergy — a collaboration that embodies connectivity, excellence, and the shared pursuit of a seamlessly integrated global network.
