Air Algérie, Turkish Airlines Strengthen Strategic Alliance with a Landmark Agreement

Algiers – October 2025 – In a step toward deepening their long-standing partnership, Air Algérie and Turkish Airlines signed, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) heralding a new era of strategic cooperation between the two flag carriers. The signing ceremony, held at Air Algérie’s headquarters in Algiers, was presided over by Hamza Benhamouda, CEO of Air Algérie, and Bilal Ekşi, CEO of Turkish Airlines, in the presence of senior executives and officials from both companies.
This agreement marks a significant milestone in the expansion of bilateral collaboration between Algeria and Türkiye, two nations linked by deep historical, economic, and cultural ties.
The MoU aims primarily to expand the existing code-sharing agreement between the two airlines, thereby enhancing connectivity across their respective networks. The upgraded framework will allow passengers access to a broader range of destinations and smoother global connections, reinforcing both carriers’ competitiveness in international aviation markets.
Beyond code-sharing, the accord lays the foundation for a multidimensional partnership encompassing key sectors such as cargo operations, aircraft leasing, in-flight catering, technical maintenance, and ground handling services. Both airlines also intend to grant reciprocal access to their VIP lounges, and to jointly pursue initiatives focusing on environmental sustainability and advanced personnel training — a testament to their shared vision of building a future-oriented aviation ecosystem.
Speaking after the signing, Air Algérie CEO Hamza Benhamouda emphasized the strategic impact of this alliance. “This agreement represents a turning point in our partnership with Turkish Airlines. It will not only strengthen the ties between our two carriers but also deliver tangible benefits to our passengers while consolidating cooperation between Algeria and Türkiye,” he stated.
Echoing this sentiment, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi hailed the accord as a model of mutual trust and synergy. “Our collaboration with Air Algérie embodies our commitment to sustainable growth and shared progress. Together, we will enhance economic and cultural exchanges between Türkiye and Algeria, while offering travelers world-class connectivity and service,” he affirmed.
The partnership between the two airlines dates back to 2016, when the first code-share agreement was signed, before being expanded in 2024 to include new destinations across Türkiye, Asia, and Africa. With this new Memorandum, Air Algérie and Turkish Airlines reaffirm their mutual ambition to consolidate a robust, long-term strategic alliance grounded in excellence, complementarity, and innovation — a partnership designed to serve both the travelers of today and the economies of tomorrow.
