Algiers – September 2025 – At the heart of the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), the voice of the African Union resonated with clarity and conviction through the intervention of Salma Malika Haddadi, Vice-President of the AU Commission. “Algeria has always been, and remains, a bridge between the peoples of our continent, a space that embodies African unity and stands as a lever for deepening economic integration,” Haddadi declared, her words striking a chord with the hundreds of participants who gathered to shape the trajectory of African trade and cooperation.
She highlighted the strength of the partnership that made the organization of this continental event possible, stressing the importance of collaboration between key institutions. “We express our profound recognition to our partners in organizing this exhibition, first and foremost the African Export-Import Bank and the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area,” she stated, underlining the collective dimension of the gathering.
But Haddadi’s address went beyond ceremonial gratitude. She placed the spotlight on the aspirations of Africa’s institutions, reiterating the common ambition to unleash the continent’s immense potential. “Through this forum, we aspire to liberate Africa’s vast capabilities and to strengthen intra-African trade,” she said, drawing attention to the urgent need for action that transcends rhetoric.
The ultimate aim, she emphasized, is not merely commercial. It is the pursuit of a shared prosperity that leaves no nation behind. “Strengthening continental trade will bring prosperity to all the peoples of Africa,” Haddadi concluded, her message underscoring a collective destiny where unity and integration are not abstract ideals but lived realities.
