Talks focus on deepening cooperation in energy, mining, and renewable energies, building on the momentum of high-level exchanges
Algiers, Algeria | April 28th, 2025 — In a new step towards strengthening strategic economic ties, Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, received on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the headquarters of his Ministry, the Ambassador of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Algeria, H.E. Ms. Bojana Kondić Panić. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The discussions provided an opportunity to review the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the fields of energy, mining, and renewable energies. The two parties placed special emphasis on the new dynamism that has characterized relations following the visit of the Bosnian Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry, Mr. Vedad Lakić, to Algeria in February 2025.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the excellent level of cooperation between Algeria’s national electricity and gas company, Sonelgaz, and the Bosnian national company, Energoinvest. Prospects for further collaboration between Sonatrach, Algeria’s energy giant, and Bosnian operators in the hydrocarbons sector were also discussed.
Furthermore, discussions addressed potential joint investments in mining and associated processing industries, in addition to projects in the field of renewable energies. Both parties emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences, transferring expertise, and enhancing technical training programs as fundamental pillars to deepen the partnership.
Concluding the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to advancing a strategic and sustainable economic partnership by identifying concrete projects that would serve the mutual economic interests of both nations.
It is worth recalling that earlier, on February 5, 2025, Minister Mohamed Arkab had received the Bosnian Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry, Mr. Vedad Lakić. That high-level encounter resulted in an agreement to expand bilateral cooperation to include new sectors such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), electricity, renewable energies, green hydrogen, and electrical industries. The Bosnian delegation also conducted technical visits to key Sonelgaz and Sonatrach facilities, illustrating the shared determination of Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina to forge a robust and enduring economic partnership.
Through this strategic dialogue and the upcoming projects, Algeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to lay the foundations for a diversified and resilient economic cooperation, contributing to the energy transition and sustainable development objectives of both countries.
