Algeria–Bahrain Relations Reach New Economic Heights as Bilateral Trade Surpasses 300 Million USD
Algiers – December 2025 – Algeria and Bahrain reaffirmed the depth and strategic character of their bilateral relations as the Bahraini diplomatic mission in Algiers marked the Kingdom’s National Day during a ceremony held Tuesday evening at the Palais de la Culture. On this occasion, the Bahraini Ambassador underscored that the ties binding the two nations are anchored in a solid convergence of political visions regarding key international issues, complemented by a steadily expanding economic partnership.
The ambassador revealed that bilateral trade volumes reached approximately 300 million USD in 2024, a level he described as reflective of the “growing trust, shared priorities, and maturity” that now characterise Algerian-Bahraini cooperation. He stressed that this dynamic is set to intensify with the implementation of the recommendations issued by the Joint Economic Commission, particularly as new investment projects begin to materialise across sectors identified as strategic by both countries.
According to the diplomat, the next phase of cooperation will be marked by increased investments in finance, banking technologies, and digital transformation — domains in which Bahrain has established itself as a regional leader and where Algeria is accelerating reforms and modernization efforts.
In a significant announcement made during the celebration, Bank ABC Algeria introduced a new partnership bringing together Arab Financial Services (AFS), a leading provider of e-payment solutions in the Gulf region, and the Algerian startup Smart Solution & Innovation (SSI). The collaboration aims to produce 100,000 electronic payment terminals (TPEs) annually on Algerian soil, supporting the country’s digital transition and strengthening its financial infrastructure.
This initiative, hailed as a model of practical and forward-looking cooperation, highlights the determination of both nations to move toward a technologically integrated economic partnership capable of generating added value and creating long-term opportunities.
The ceremony, attended by senior officials, diplomats, economic operators, and representatives of the banking sector, reaffirmed the shared ambition of Algeria and Bahrain to elevate their relations to higher levels of synergy, investment, and strategic coordination.
