Algeria and Belarus Seal Strategic Cooperation Accords: President Tebboune Hails a “Promising New Era” for Bilateral Partnership

Algiers – December 2025 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune hailed the signature of a series of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding between Algeria and Belarus, marking a decisive step towards strengthening bilateral relations and expanding strategic collaboration. The accords were signed under the supervision of President Tebboune and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, during an official ceremony held at the Presidency of the Republic, the Presidency said in a statement.
In a joint press declaration following their high-level talks, President Tebboune welcomed the scope and ambition of the newly signed agreements, describing them as a gateway to “promising prospects for partnership” between the two nations. He affirmed that both sides agreed to encourage investment and cooperation in several key sectors, notably agriculture, animal health, energy, scientific research, and pharmaceuticals—areas he characterized as critical for fostering sustainable, mutually beneficial development.
President Tebboune additionally expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the Algeria-Belarus Economic Forum, noting that its deliberations and engagements will significantly contribute to the intensification of trade exchanges between the two countries. The forum’s results, he stressed, reflect a growing convergence of economic priorities and a shared willingness to broaden commercial horizons.
A Memorandum of Understanding on industrial cooperation was signed between the Algerian Ministry of Industry and its Belarusian counterpart, consolidating institutional collaboration in this strategic field. Meanwhile, an agreement on animal health formalized a new regulatory and scientific framework for cooperation between the two governments.
The agricultural sector featured prominently in the partnership portfolio, with the ministries responsible for agriculture, rural development, and fisheries from both nations signing a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation and promoting knowledge exchange in agricultural development, food production, and sustainable resource management.
Earlier in the day, President Tebboune held a private meeting at the Presidency with President Lukashenko, during which the two leaders explored avenues to expand bilateral cooperation and deepen political dialogue.
As part of his official program in Algiers, the Belarusian President visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, where he laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs of Algeria’s liberation struggle. He subsequently toured the National Museum of the Mujahid, where he was briefed on the major phases of Algerian history, with particular emphasis on the milestones of the 1 November 1954 Revolution.
