Algiers – December 2025 – Algeria and Belarus strengthened their economic and industrial cooperation on Monday with the signing of five partnership agreements in Algiers, marking a decisive milestone in the collaboration between enterprises and institutions from both countries. The agreements were concluded as part of the Algerian-Belarusian Economic Forum, reflecting a shared determination to deepen bilateral exchanges and expand joint industrial ventures.
The most significant of these agreements concerns a partnership protocol between the Algerian Company for the Manufacturing of Utility and Industrial Vehicles (SFVUI), affiliated with the Ferrovial group, and the Belarusian company Maz—Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ). This partnership aims to reinforce cooperation in the field of vehicle manufacturing and will lead to the establishment of a dedicated production unit for buses at the Oued El Berdi site in the province of Bouira. According to Samir Ardjoun, Director of Communication and Marketing at SFVUI, this project forms part of national efforts to renew the country’s vehicle fleet in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The new manufacturing unit is expected to produce nearly one thousand buses per year, in various sizes and equipped with different features tailored to the needs of the national market. Ardjoun added that the project will generate around 612 direct jobs, supported by an estimated total investment of approximately 4.7 billion dinars.
Ardjoun also noted that the choice of Oued El Berdi as the site for this project aligns with a broader vision to consolidate the local industrial fabric and boost economic development in the region. Beyond the bus manufacturing project, several other agreements were signed to expand industrial cooperation. A memorandum of understanding was concluded between Algeria’s public metal construction company “SNC METAL” and the Belarusian firm “AMKODOR,” as well as another between the agricultural tractor company ETRAG and the Belarusian company “Bobruiskagromach.” These agreements aim to support industrial collaboration and promote the exchange of expertise and technologies between the two countries.
In addition to industrial cooperation, economic institutions also formalized new mechanisms to facilitate bilateral trade and investment. The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) signed an agreement with its Belarusian counterpart to establish a joint Business Council, designed to support economic operators and ease commercial exchanges. Furthermore, an agreement between the Algerian Confederation of Employers (CAP) and the Belarusian Commodity Exchange was signed, opening new perspectives for cooperation and partnership for enterprises in both nations.
