Algeria, Burkina Faso Move to Elevate Energy, Mining Ties to Strategic Partnership

The document expresses the shared determination of Algeria and Burkina Faso to strengthen their cooperative relations and elevate them to a strategic partnership in hydrocarbons, energy, and mining, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at promoting African cooperation and consolidating the principle of SouthโSouth partnership.
The agreed record includes several priority areas of cooperation, notably the supply of petroleum products to Burkina Faso, the development of collaboration in liquefied petroleum gas, and the strengthening of storage and distribution capacities. It also provides for expanding cooperation in the electricity sector through support to Burkina Fasoโs national electricity company in projects related to production, transmission, distribution, maintenance, and equipment.
In addition, the document provides for cooperation in the exploitation and processing of mineral resources, the exchange of expertise and experience, and the launch of training programs for Burkinabรจ executives and technicians in hydrocarbons, electricity, and renewable energy sectors.
The two sides agreed to establish joint follow-up mechanisms through sectoral working groups to ensure effective implementation of the agreements. The signing of this record of discussions thus marks an important step in strengthening relations of fraternity and cooperation between Algeria and Burkina Faso, reflecting a shared political will to build an effective African partnership based on mutual benefit and economic integration.
