Algiers – September 2025 – In yet another demonstration of Algeria’s growing diplomatic and economic outreach, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, received on Monday the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, Dong Guangli, at the ministry’s headquarters in Algiers. The meeting underscored the depth of Algerian-Chinese relations and highlighted a shared determination to elevate economic cooperation to new heights.
Discussions centered on the state of bilateral trade relations and the prospects for their expansion in light of the historic ties and converging strategic interests binding the two nations. Both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple economic sectors and pledged to encourage initiatives capable of opening broader horizons for partnership.
Ambassador Guangli commended Algeria for its resounding success in hosting the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), praising the “impeccable organization and meaningful recommendations that reflect the dynamism of the Algerian economy and its openness to regional and international cooperation.” His remarks underscored China’s recognition of Algeria as a pivotal actor in regional trade and a reliable partner in shaping the future of South-South economic cooperation.
Minister Rezig, for his part, emphasized that Algeria remains committed to leveraging its strategic position at the crossroads of Africa, the Arab world, and the Mediterranean to consolidate its role as a hub for regional integration. He reaffirmed that cooperation with China — a historical ally and trusted partner — is not only a cornerstone of Algeria’s foreign economic policy but also a key driver for its long-term development strategy.
The meeting further reinforced the shared conviction that the Algerian-Chinese partnership, rooted in solidarity and common interests, must continue to adapt and flourish amid the challenges of the global economic order. Both parties highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to boost trade, diversify investments, and unlock new opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, technology, and sustainable development.
