Algeria Commemorates the 70th Anniversary of its Revolution with a Majestic Military Parade: President Tebboune’s Address Reflects Commitment to Sovereignty and Regional Stability

Algiers, Algeria | November 01st, 2024 —  In a powerful tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, delivered an inspiring speech during a landmark military parade in Algiers. This commemoration, marking the historic First of November, brought together esteemed national and international figures, embodying Algeria’s resilience and its enduring legacy of freedom. President Tebboune’s address celebrated the country’s sovereignty, reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability, and expressed gratitude to the guests who honored Algeria by their presence.

Opening his speech, President Tebboune extended heartfelt congratulations to the Algerian people, reflecting on the profound significance of the revolutionary struggle that forged the nation’s path to independence. His message of gratitude was also directed at Algeria’s distinguished guests, including leaders and dignitaries from allied and friendly nations. In his words, these attendees embody “deep respect for Algeria’s role in promoting security and stability” and acknowledge its steadfast “support for just causes and the rights of nations to peace and development.”

Against the symbolic backdrop of a grand military parade, the President underscored Algeria’s resolve in continuing the path laid by its revolutionary heroes. He emphasized the country’s readiness to defend its sovereignty, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the People’s National Army (ANP) and other security forces stationed along Algeria’s vast borders, vigilant in protecting the land and people. Addressing the security challenges and responsibilities that Algeria faces, Tebboune stated, “This momentous occasion reminds us that Algeria, victorious in its past struggles, continues confidently on the path of triumph.”

The parade saw the public debut of several advanced military assets, including the “Iskander-E” short-range ballistic missile system, highlighting Algeria’s growing military capabilities and its commitment to bolstering national defense. President Tebboune emphasized that Algeria’s military doctrine remains firmly rooted in defense, with its capabilities directed solely toward securing Algeria’s sovereignty and maintaining national peace. He reiterated that the country’s arsenal is aligned with Algeria’s constitutional principles, emphasizing respect for international law and dedication to regional and global peace efforts.

President Tebboune’s address also focused on Algeria’s achievements and ambitions amidst global economic and security pressures. The President’s solemn words honored their legacy, affirming Algeria’s eternal gratitude: “May glory and eternity be with our valiant martyrs.”

Your presence here, as we celebrate this historic anniversary, is a testament to your appreciation for Algeria’s role in fostering regional security and stability, and for its unwavering commitment to supporting just causes and defending the rights of peoples to peace and development.

This enduring national occasion, rich with all the symbols of glory, pride, and honor, remains a beacon of Algeria’s unyielding spirit. Algeria, which once triumphed over colonialism, continues its victorious path with confidence, thanks to the loyalty of its sons and daughters who remain true to the covenant of our noble martyrs.

On this 70th anniversary of the glorious Liberation Revolution, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the People’s National Army and all security forces who stand vigil on our borders to defend our pure land, safeguard our skies and shores, and are prepared to sacrifice everything to honor the legacy of our martyrs, protect the Republic, and preserve its achievements.

Today, we ensured that this military parade reflects both the depth and symbolism of this landmark anniversary, commemorating the sacrifices of its heroes. It embodies the sacred bond between our people and their daughters and sons in the National People’s Army, who work with high patriotism and unwavering dedication.

I must underscore here the defensive doctrine of our People’s National Army, with its weapons solely devoted to protecting Algeria and safeguarding its sovereignty. This commitment aligns with our international and regional obligations, in respect of international law, and within the framework of our principles and constitutional guidelines to contribute to international peace and security.

Despite the current economic and security challenges facing the world, we continue on the path of building the New Algeria and achieving progress. We are launching promising development projects, thanks to the efforts of all loyal citizens who believe in our nation’s potential to advance and to fulfill our people’s aspirations for a life of dignity within the embrace of peace and stability.

In closing, I bow in reverence to honor the souls of our noble martyrs—all of them—the martyrs of popular resistance, the victorious Liberation Revolution, and the martyrs of national duty.

Long live Algeria, glory and eternity to our noble martyrs.
