Algiers, Algeria | June 2nd, 2025 — In celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Algerian government has officially designated Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—June 6, 7, and 8, 2025—as paid public holidays for all workers across the country. This measure, jointly announced by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the Directorate General of Civil Service and Administrative Reform, applies to employees of public institutions and administrations, as well as those working in public and private sector companies, establishments, and offices, regardless of their sector or legal status.

The announcement specifies that these holidays coincide with the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhou El Hidja 1446 on the Hijri calendar, in line with Law No. 63-278 of July 26, 1963, as amended and supplemented, which outlines the list of legal holidays in Algeria.

The measure covers all employees, including those paid on an hourly or daily basis, reinforcing the state’s commitment to upholding equitable labor rights during major religious observances.

However, the statement also emphasized that institutions and enterprises operating under a shift-based work model are obligated to implement the necessary arrangements to ensure continuity of essential services during the holiday period.
