Algeria Emerges as Africa’s Leading Provider of Fiber Optic Services

ALGIERS- The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, announced that Algeria has established itself as a frontrunner among African and Arab nations in the realm of fiber optic services. Remarkably, Algeria stands out as one of the few countries that have successfully connected a million households to the cutting-edge fiber optic service known as “FITH.”
During an Algerie Telecom seminar held in Chlef Province, Minister Bibi Triki elaborated on this significant milestone. He highlighted that as recently as 2020, the number of connected households did not exceed a mere 53,000. However, through relentless efforts and unwavering commitment, Algeria has now doubled this figure, reaching an impressive one million families benefiting from this advanced service.
Minister Bibi Triki emphasized the significance of this technology, stating that it represents one of the latest advancements in fixed internet services. By embracing fiber optic technology, Algeria is able to keep pace with the ever-evolving capabilities of its youth and foster the growth of emerging enterprises.
