Algiers – December 2025 – The Algerian Ministry of National Defence (MDN) has formally instructed all holders of unmanned aerial systems (drones) to declare their devices to the National Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems before April 30, 2026, in accordance with the national regulatory framework governing drone operations. The directive was issued on Thursday through an official communiqué.
According to the statement, the measure derives from the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 21-285 of July 13, 2021, which establishes the overarching legal architecture regulating unmanned aerial systems in Algeria. The MDN confirmed that the National Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems is now operational, thereby triggering the mandatory declaration process for all civilian-owned systems covered under the decree.
The Ministry emphasized that citizens in possession of drones are required to declare their equipment directly at the National Center, and to do so before the designated deadline, which constitutes the legal cut-off point for compliance. The communiqué underlined that the directive applies universally to all drone owners, reaffirming the state’s intent to establish comprehensive oversight over the proliferation and usage of unmanned systems across national territory.
Registration procedures must be carried out in person, with applicants presenting the required documentation after arranging an appointment. The MDN specified that appointments may be scheduled via telephone through 021905669 or 021905670, or via email at CONTACT-CNSAPB@MDN.DZ. The Ministry’s clarification aims to ensure an orderly and traceable process, limiting administrative friction while enhancing security accountability.
