Algiers – November 2025 – In a renewed affirmation of the strategic depth and long-standing trust underpinning Algerian-German relations, Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir received Tobias Gotthardt, Secretary of State at the Bavarian Ministry of Economy, Regional Development and Energy, on Thursday in Algiers. The meeting, attended by senior ministry officials and a high-level German delegation including representatives of AHK Algérie and executives from major German industrial groups, set the stage for a new chapter of industrial cooperation anchored in joint investment and technological transfer.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in the industrial sector through the development of common investment projects capable of generating sustainable value. Both sides reviewed the current state and future horizons of industrial relations, particularly in mechanical industries, chemical manufacturing, and equipment production. They also assessed the progress of the long-standing strategic industrial partnership that has linked Algeria and Germany for several years, reaffirming its relevance in a rapidly shifting global industrial landscape.
Minister Bachir underscored that the present moment constitutes “a genuine opportunity to deepen and expand industrial cooperation between Algeria and Germany” thanks to Algeria’s increasingly attractive and stable investment climate. He invited German companies to capitalize on this dynamic by contributing to the modernization of Algerian factories and industrial centers—many of which were originally established in partnership with German industry. Bachir emphasized the need for robust technological and cognitive support to boost the competitiveness of these entities, urging German partners to take equity stakes in both public and private Algerian companies within mutually beneficial, win-win frameworks. Such partnerships, he stressed, would allow the seamless transfer of German know-how and technological excellence into the Algerian industrial fabric.
For his part, Gotthardt expressed Bavaria’s and Germany’s firm commitment to strengthening their industrial partnership with Algeria. He noted that German authorities are actively encouraging companies to direct their investments towards the Algerian market, given its strategic position, growing demand, and clear governmental vision for industrial renewal. In this context, he announced the preparation of a significant visit by a large delegation of German investors intending to explore strategic investment opportunities in Algeria, particularly in chemical industries as well as agricultural and industrial equipment manufacturing.
Concluding the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their determination to sustain economic dialogue and elevate industrial cooperation to match the ambitions shared by both nations. They agreed to intensify joint efforts in the coming period through concrete, innovative, and economically viable projects that embody the maturity of Algerian-German relations and the two countries’ aspirations for a promising industrial future.
