Algeria Intensifies Industrial Coordination to Advance Energy Transition Agenda

Algeria is reinforcing its strategic push toward energy transition through closer alignment with industrial stakeholders, as Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal convened high-level talks with representatives of the Green Energy Cluster Algeria in Algiers.

The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, brought together key figures from the cluster, including its Chairman Mehdi Bendimerad and Director-General Boukhalfa Yaissi. Discussions focused on sectoral priorities and avenues for deepening cooperation between public authorities and industrial actors in support of Algeria’s evolving energy strategy.

At the core of the exchange was the ministry’s forward-looking vision for the energy transition, with Minister Adjal emphasizing that its successful implementation hinges on the active engagement of all stakeholders—particularly industrial operators, whose role is deemed central in translating policy frameworks into operational outcomes.

The minister outlined ongoing progress across several strategic projects, most notably the deployment of a 3,200-megawatt solar energy program, which constitutes a cornerstone of Algeria’s renewable energy ambitions. He also highlighted efforts to reactivate previously suspended initiatives, including off-grid energy projects designed to expand access in remote areas, as well as developments related to the country’s nuclear energy program.

In this context, Adjal underscored the imperative for all actors to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of renewable energy projects, reaffirming the ministry’s openness to credible proposals and constructive engagement from industry stakeholders.

For his part, Bendimerad welcomed the renewed momentum observed within the energy sector, particularly in electricity generation, and reiterated the cluster’s support for the government’s strategic orientations. His remarks reflected a broader alignment between institutional vision and industrial commitment, signaling a shared determination to accelerate Algeria’s transition toward a more diversified and sustainable energy mix.
