Algiers – October 2025 – During his intervention at the NAPEC 2025 exhibition, the American expert, Professor Geoff D. Porter, Director of NARCO Risk Consulting for North Africa, delivered a resounding tribute to Algeria’s remarkable political and economic evolution, describing the country as “a model of stability and an emerging investment hub on the southern shores of the Mediterranean.”
Professor Porter highlighted that since President Abdelmadjid Tebboune assumed office in 2019, Algeria has undergone profound transformations that have placed it among the most stable nations in the region. He stressed that the country’s balanced governance, cohesive institutions, and effective security apparatus have shielded it from the turmoil afflicting neighboring states. “Algeria has turned into an island of safety in a sea of uncertainty,” he remarked, noting that this stability has directly bolstered the attractiveness of the Algerian market to global investors, particularly in the fields of energy and infrastructure.
The American expert praised the strategic strength of Algeria’s energy infrastructure, emphasizing its vast and reliable gas pipeline networks that link its natural gas fields directly to European markets. “Algeria has become a cornerstone in Europe’s energy security,” Porter affirmed, adding that European economies are increasingly dependent on the steady supply of Algerian gas, which is both competitively priced and geopolitically reliable.
He further underscored that Algeria’s logistical and industrial frameworks are among the most advanced in the region, allowing the country to maintain consistent production and export levels even amid global disruptions. This resilience, he said, “is what distinguishes Algeria from many energy-exporting nations that remain vulnerable to instability.”
On the economic front, Professor Porter described Algeria’s current investment climate as “the most favorable since independence.” He attributed this to the government’s proactive reforms, the modernization of the legal and financial systems, and the new Hydrocarbons Law, which he said “has sent a powerful signal to international investors that Algeria is open for business.”
Porter noted that Algerian authorities have struck a delicate balance between national sovereignty and economic openness, creating a framework that encourages foreign participation while safeguarding national interests. He also commended Algeria’s push to diversify its energy partnerships, attract new entrants into its market, and expand cooperation beyond traditional European partners to include Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
In closing, Professor Porter emphasized that Algeria’s political stability, coupled with its forward-looking economic strategy, positions it as “a pivotal energy actor and a reliable geopolitical partner in the Mediterranean basin.” He asserted that Algeria’s trajectory under President Tebboune’s leadership “reflects not only resilience but a clear vision for sustainable growth, regional leadership, and global relevance.”
“Few countries in today’s Mediterranean landscape,” Porter concluded, “have managed to combine such political steadiness with economic dynamism. Algeria stands as a testament to what strategic governance and long-term vision can achieve.”
