Algiers, Algeria– Thursday, July 17, 2025 | In a strategic move to streamline administrative procedures and ease the certification of official documents, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs has signed a framework agreement with Algérie Poste, the national postal operator. The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday in Algiers, under the supervision of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, and the Secretary of State in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib.

The agreement establishes a new, innovative service enabling citizens to submit documents requiring certification at their nearest Algérie Poste office. The documents will then be securely transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, processed, and returned to the citizens—eliminating the need for travel to central administration offices. This groundbreaking system ensures full traceability throughout every phase of the process, from initial submission to final delivery, using advanced logistical protocols that align with current administrative standards.

Minister Zerrouki emphasized that this initiative forms part of a comprehensive national digital transformation strategy, aiming to modernize postal services, diversify offerings, develop value-added digital solutions, and promote e-payment and e-commerce. He described the project as a “practical model of institutional integration” that embodies Algeria’s commitment to efficient, citizen-centered governance.

For his part, Secretary of State Sofiane Chaib stressed that simplifying administrative procedures and enhancing consular services remain central priorities for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He noted that the department responsible for document certification regularly handles a high volume of public demand—often exceeding 3,000 visitors per day—especially during peak periods.

“This new service,” Chaib stated, “will drastically reduce physical crowding at ministry headquarters, while maintaining the highest standards of security, efficiency, and user convenience. Citizens will now be able to initiate and complete the entire certification process through their local post offices.”

The rollout will also include the use of dedicated digital tools, allowing users to track their documents in real time throughout the processing cycle.

The agreement was officially signed by Mr. Mohamed Cherif Kourta, Director General of Resources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Mohamed Tazir, Acting Director General of Algérie Poste.
