Algeria Launches Large-Scale Multi-Regional Export Operation Targeting 19 International Markets
By Dr. Hana Saada
Algeria has initiated one of its most extensive coordinated export operations to date, signaling a decisive acceleration in its strategy to expand non-hydrocarbon trade and strengthen its global commercial footprint. The launch, supervised by Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig from the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou, marks a milestone in the country’s efforts to operationalize export diversification at scale.
Conducted in the presence of local authorities, including the Governor of Tizi Ouzou, Aboubakr Seddik Boucetta, the operation encompasses a synchronized deployment of 35 export initiatives originating from 13 wilayas across the national territory. This coordinated rollout, supported by real-time videoconferencing with regional governors, reflects a structured approach to integrating local production ecosystems into global supply chains.
The participating wilayas—El M’Ghair, Mostaganem, Relizane, Oran (via the ports of Oran and Arzew), Tizi Ouzou, Sétif, Jijel, Algiers (through Algiers International Airport), Bordj Bou Arreridj, Annaba, Béjaïa, Skikda, and Biskra—collectively illustrate the geographic breadth of Algeria’s export mobilization. The operation targets 19 international destinations, including eight European countries alongside markets across the Arab world and Africa, underscoring a deliberate effort to diversify export outlets and consolidate Algeria’s presence in competitive global markets.
The export portfolio spans a wide spectrum of industrial and agricultural goods, reflecting the progressive maturation of Algeria’s productive base beyond hydrocarbons. Shipments include high-value agricultural produce such as cherry tomatoes, fruits, and dates, alongside processed food products, dairy goods, and cleaning materials. Industrial exports feature paper products, packaging materials, household appliances, spare parts, ceramics, and construction inputs including cement, clinker, and reinforcing steel.
This initiative is embedded within a broader national policy framework aimed at supporting economic operators and facilitating their access to international markets. By strengthening institutional backing and logistical coordination, Algerian authorities seek to enhance export readiness, improve competitiveness, and sustain momentum in non-hydrocarbon trade performance.
In parallel with the launch, Minister Rezig is set to inaugurate the National Exhibition of Cheeses and Dairy Products for Export, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade. The event serves as a strategic platform to showcase the capabilities of Algeria’s dairy industry, promote product quality, and position national producers within export-oriented value chains.
Taken together, this large-scale export operation reflects a calibrated shift toward a more diversified and outward-looking economic model—one that leverages regional production strengths, institutional coordination, and sectoral variety to anchor Algeria more firmly within the architecture of international trade.
