Algiers, Algeria | July 1st, 2025 — In a reaffirmation of the historic ties and unwavering solidarity between Algeria and Nicaragua, Algeria’s Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Mr. Laïd Rebiga, received on Tuesday, July 1, a high-level delegation from Nicaragua. The meeting took place on the margins of the International Conference on Colonial Crimes in Human History, held in Algiers.
The Nicaraguan delegation was composed of Mr. Tardanthilia Orlando José, Senior Advisor to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua for Political Affairs and Foreign Relations, and Mr. Edixon Dierings John Edison, historian, Member of the National Assembly, and senior figure of the Sandinista National Liberation Front. Also in attendance were a representative of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to Algeria.
The encounter served as a timely platform to celebrate the deep-rooted, traditional bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and solidarity that unite the two nations—ties forged through a shared legacy of revolutionary struggle and commitment to justice on the global stage. Both sides underscored their absolute convergence of views on a range of just and legitimate causes, from self-determination to decolonization and global equity.
Minister Rebiga expressed his profound appreciation for the warm hospitality he received during his recent official visit to Managua, hailing it as a testament to the sincerity and strength of Algerian-Nicaraguan friendship. He emphasized that the fraternal relationship between the two peoples continues to grow stronger under the visionary leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega, alongside Co-President Mrs. Rosario Murillo.
The meeting highlighted the strategic alignment of the two countries on issues such as Palestinian statehood, the defense of national sovereignty, and the condemnation of all forms of foreign domination and neo-colonialism. Both delegations reiterated their commitment to international justice and multilateral cooperation grounded in dignity, sovereignty, and the right of peoples to determine their future free from coercion.
