ALGIERS- Algeria, a country rich in history, culture, and artistic heritage, is gearing up to host a remarkable event that celebrates literary and artistic creativity. The Algerian Federation of Culture and the Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Arts, presents the inaugural edition of the Algerian Forum for Literary and Artistic Creativity. This prestigious event will take place from June 17 to 25 and promises to be a platform for cultural exchange and inspiration.
Under the banner of “There is room for every honor,” the forum aims to bring together a diverse group of poets and writers from across the Arab world. This gathering of creative minds will facilitate a rich dialogue, fostering understanding and collaboration among artists who share a passion for literature and the arts.
Renowned literary figures such as Omar Albo from Mauritania, Amina Abdullah Hassan, Jamal Fathi Muhammad Ahmed, and Sameh Al-Sayed Abu Mahjoub from Egypt, Khaled El Okbi from Tunisia, Hood Abdullah Al-Amani from Libya, and Mahmoud Abu Bakr, a journalist and writer from Eritrea, will grace the forum with their presence. Additionally, a multitude of talented Algerian poets will contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
The Algerian Federation of Culture and the Arts has crafted a diverse program that showcases the intersection of literature and tourism. In addition to the intellectual and artistic exchanges, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich Algerian heritage. As part of this experience, they will visit the city of Sidi Bel Abbes, coinciding with a grand marathon organized by the state. The marathon will attract numerous artists and performers, creating an atmosphere of energy and celebration. Furthermore, the guests will embark on a two-day visit to the captivating city of Ghardaïa, where they will engage in literary encounters amidst the city’s enchanting ambiance.
An exciting highlight of the first edition of the Algerian Forum for Literary and Artistic Creativity will be the presentation of the “Emir Abdelkader” poetry prize. This prestigious award, named after the great leader and poet who played a significant role in the formation of the Algerian state, will be bestowed during a grand celebration. The “Emir Abdelkader” poetry prize serves as a testament to the enduring influence of poetry and its ability to shape society and inspire generations.
