Algeria and Qatar Deepen Strategic Partnership in Labour Policy and Social Protection

Algiers – November 2025 – Algiers and Doha have once again reaffirmed the strength and depth of their historical ties, as Algeria’s Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saïhi, received Qatar’s Ambassador to Algiers, Abdelaziz Ali Al-Naama, for a high-level meeting focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in labour governance, employment policy, and social protection.
In a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Labour, Saïhi emphasized the solidity of relations binding the two nations, stressing that the encounter forms part of an ongoing dynamic of consultation and coordinated dialogue aimed at consolidating joint action in priority sectors. He highlighted the extensive efforts undertaken by the Algerian state to build a robust, inclusive social-protection architecture capable of ensuring the rights, welfare, and dignity of all workers.
Saïhi further reiterated Algeria’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Qatar through concrete programmes and mutually beneficial initiatives. These, he explained, could materialize through technical meetings, specialized training sessions, and bilateral agreements centred on the exchange of expertise, capacity-building, and the development of advanced mechanisms in digital governance, employment systems, and social security administration.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Naama expressed Qatar’s firm desire to expand its areas of cooperation with Algeria, which he described as a strategic partner of considerable importance in the region. He underlined Qatar’s readiness to share its experience, particularly in the fields of labour policy, employment strategies, social-protection reform, and human-capital development. The diplomat stressed that the strong convergence of views between the leaderships of both countries provides a solid foundation for intensifying cooperation across all sectors of shared interest.
The discussions also explored several concrete proposals aimed at energizing bilateral collaboration. These include expert field visits, joint technical workshops, and the establishment of digital interfaces facilitating the exchange of information, best practices, and institutional data between the relevant bodies in both states.
Concluding the meeting, Minister Saïhi reaffirmed his ministry’s full readiness to work alongside the Qatari side in building an exemplary, forward-looking partnership that serves the aspirations of the two fraternal peoples in the realms of labour, employment, and social protection. Ambassador Al-Naama welcomed this constructive, ambitious vision, affirming Qatar’s commitment to maintaining close coordination and consultation, with the goal of launching tangible initiatives in the near future—initiatives aligned with the shared will of both nations to strengthen a sustainable, comprehensive partnership anchored in deep and longstanding ties.
