Algiers – December  2025 – In a move reflecting its sustained commitment to global energy stability, Algeria has confirmed an increase of 4,000 barrels per day in its oil production for December 2025. The decision, adopted during high-level ministerial meetings of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and OPEC+, aligns with a broader collective adjustment agreed upon by member states.

Participating remotely in the ministerial sessions, Algeria took part in the 192nd OPEC Conference, during which ministers conducted a thorough assessment of the organization’s governance and deliberated on strategic priorities for the year ahead. The discussions underscored the need for coordinated decision-making amid shifting global energy dynamics and growing pressure for market predictability.

At the 63rd meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), Algeria contributed to the evaluation of OPEC+ members’ compliance with the output adjustments mandated for September and October 2025. The JMMC commended the efforts of participating states to honour their commitments, reinforcing the principle that collective discipline remains essential to preserving global market equilibrium.

During the 40th OPEC/OPEC+ ministerial gathering, the 22 participating countries reaffirmed their unity and willingness to act jointly to safeguard oil market stability. An important milestone of the meeting was the adoption of a new method for assessing sustainable production capacity—a mechanism that will serve as the reference point for establishing output levels from 2027 onward. This shift signals a more rigorous, data-driven approach to long-term planning within the alliance.

Algeria also participated in the session convening eight countries undertaking voluntary production adjustments. The group confirmed a collective increase of 137,000 barrels per day for December 2025, with Algeria contributing 4,000 barrels per day to this shared effort. The mechanism reflects an intentional, coordinated move to respond to market signals while avoiding destabilizing fluctuations.

In parallel, member states agreed to suspend all production increases between January and March 2026, opting for a cautious approach during a period expected to be marked by economic uncertainties and fluctuating demand projections. Despite the suspension, the coalition emphasized the importance of maintaining heightened coordination and flexibility in response to global oil market trends.
