Algeria Reaffirms Revolutionary Legacy: Minister Rebiga Vows to Defend Just Causes,  Uphold National Sovereignty

Algiers, Algeria | Against the solemn backdrop of the National Day of the Mujahid, Algeria once again invoked the spirit of its Revolution, as Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laid Rebiga, delivered a powerful message reaffirming the nation’s enduring commitment to justice, sovereignty, and revolutionary values.

The minister’s visit to Skikda began with a moment of reverence at the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Ramdane Djamel, where he laid a wreath and recited Al-Fatiha in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Algeria’s independence. The ceremony set the tone for a day imbued with remembrance, resilience, and renewed national purpose.

Rebiga presided over commemorative activities including exhibitions, scholarly meetings, and a scientific seminar on the impact of the North Constantine offensives and the Soummam Congress — both cornerstones in the trajectory of the Revolution. He hailed the August 20, 1955 attacks, led by Zighoud Youcef, as a turning point that shattered colonial blockades and projected Algeria’s voice onto the international stage.

Turning to the 69th anniversary of the Soummam Congress, Rebiga emphasized its pivotal role in giving strategic coherence to the armed struggle, reinforcing both the organizational and diplomatic fronts of the Revolution. “These milestones were the driving force of our liberation movement and the safeguard of a balanced and effective diplomacy,” he declared, noting how they enabled Algeria to thwart colonial conspiracies and rally international support.

In a stirring address, Rebiga drew a direct line from Algeria’s revolutionary triumph to its present posture under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune: “Algeria, steeped in humanitarian values, will never renounce its principles. Guided by its revolutionary heritage, it will continue to champion justice, freedom, and dignity, and will not hesitate to defend just causes across the globe.”

The minister also saluted Algeria’s armed forces and security services, describing them as the vigilant guardians of sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity. He praised their sacrifices in thwarting conspiracies and securing the nation’s borders: “From Skikda, we extend our highest salutations and admiration to the ANP and all security forces for their ceaseless vigilance in protecting Algeria’s unity and people.”

Closing his speech, Rebiga urged Algerians to unite against disinformation campaigns targeting the nation, to hold fast to their moral and historical heritage, and to embrace clarity in navigating regional and international transformations. His call resounded as both a warning and a rallying cry: a reminder that Algeria’s strength lies in its unity, its memory, and its revolutionary will to remain sovereign and victorious.
