Algeria, Russia Deepen Military Cooperation

Algiers – November 2025 – In a demonstration of strategic continuity between Algiers and Moscow, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), received on Thursday, at the headquarters of the ANP General Staff, Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation. The high-level audience, reported in an official communiqué by the Ministry of National Defence, underscores the depth and endurance of bilateral defence relations between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by senior figures from the Ministry of National Defence and the ANP General Staff, including key department chiefs and central directors, alongside members of the Russian delegation. Their presence reflected the seriousness accorded to this strategic dialogue and the importance of maintaining coordination at the uppermost institutional levels.
According to the same source, the discussions between the two sides focused primarily on the current state of military and technical cooperation, an area in which Algeria and Russia have long-established ties rooted in mutual confidence and shared defence perspectives. The talks also extended to issues of common interest, reaffirming the willingness of both parties to preserve, consolidate, and adapt their cooperation to evolving regional and international dynamics.
