Algeria Secures $11.4 Billion in Investment and Trade Deals at African Trade Fair: Omar Rekkache Outlines Strategic Vision

Algiers – September 2025 – Algeria has emerged as one of the leading actors in the African economic scene, securing agreements worth a staggering $11.4 billion during the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair held from September 4 to 10. Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, unveiled the full scope of these deals during a high-level meeting with Algerian companies that signed the agreements.
Of the total value, $5 billion were sealed as investment agreements, while $6.4 billion were dedicated to trade contracts for the exchange of goods and services, reflecting Algeria’s determination to consolidate its regional integration and assert its status as a rising hub for both investment and trade. Investments alone accounted for 44 percent of Algeria’s total deals at the fair, a proportion underscoring the country’s strategic focus on sustainable, high-value projects.
Algeria’s Prominent Share in Overall Deals
Rekkache stressed that Algeria’s share represented 23.6 percent of the overall contracts signed during the event, valued at $48.3 billion. This remarkable performance placed Algeria among the top beneficiaries of the fair. The agreements were concluded with partners from 31 countries, including key players outside the continent such as the United States, Germany, Canada, and China.
The sectors covered by these agreements spanned a wide range of strategic industries, from electrical and energy production to steel, agri-food, and electronics, confirming Algeria’s drive to diversify its economy and strengthen its industrial base.
In his address, the Director General reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to provide full support to economic operators and investors until the projects are effectively implemented on the ground. He called upon national media to highlight success stories that could enhance Algeria’s image as a competitive and attractive destination for investment at both the regional and global levels.
Rekkache also announced the launch of a new digital platform via the agency’s official website, offering a dedicated form for economic operators to submit their concerns and specify the requirements of their projects. This initiative, he explained, aims to guarantee personalized follow-up for each investor while streamlining administrative procedures, ensuring greater efficiency and faster implementation of commitments.
The outcome of the African Trade Fair has been described as a turning point in Algeria’s economic diplomacy, marking the country’s transition from a peripheral player to a decisive economic force in the African market.
