Algiers, Algeria | May 27th, 2025 — In an appeal for a paradigm shift in Algeria-Brazil economic relations, President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula, on Sunday urged both nations to move beyond conventional trade patterns and toward robust strategic partnerships grounded in co-production and technological collaboration.

Speaking during a high-level business forum hosted by the Brazilian trade mission in Algiers, Moula emphasized the need to diversify bilateral cooperation beyond the standard import-export model, stating: “It is imperative that we overcome traditional commerce based solely on buying and selling. Our shared objective must be to create enduring alliances built on joint ventures and shared industrial outputs.”

With Brazil recognized globally as a leading agro-industrial powerhouse, Moula highlighted agriculture as a vital sector for bilateral collaboration. “Algeria is determined to bolster its food security. The Brazilian agricultural model, marked by high productivity, technological innovation, and efficient land use, offers a valuable blueprint for sustainable agricultural development in Algeria,” he noted.

Moula underscored Algeria’s desire to achieve greater trade balance with Brazil by expanding investment frameworks and launching mutually beneficial industrial projects. “We aim to recalibrate our trade relationship by deepening investment in promising sectors—chiefly mining and the automotive industry—where Brazil has both technical capacity and global reach,” he asserted.

The CREA chief further called for the institutionalization of regular bilateral meetings between Algerian and Brazilian economic operators. “It is essential to foster direct dialogue and build a bridge between entrepreneurs, industrialists, and investors from both sides. Only through sustained engagement can we achieve tangible and forward-looking projects that serve our common interests.”

Moula’s remarks reflect Algeria’s broader strategic outlook aimed at enhancing its international investment profile while aligning with emerging global powers such as Brazil. The forum gathered a range of Algerian and Brazilian business leaders, government representatives, and trade experts in a collective push to strengthen South-South cooperation in alignment with shared development goals.

The event also marked a renewed commitment to boosting economic diplomacy, with participants expressing optimism that stronger ties between the two nations would lead to job creation, technology transfer, and regional development in both hemispheres.
