Algiers – December 2025 – In a bilateral engagement on Monday in Algiers, Algeria’s Minister of Communication, Zoheir Bouamama, formally received his Somali counterpart, Mohamed Adam Maalim, Minister of Communications and Technology. The meeting, convened within the framework of African Telecommunications Day and the African Ministerial Forum on Digital Platforms, underscored the determination of both nations to intensify collaboration in the information and communications sector — a strategic domain crucial to socio-economic development and regional digital transformation.
The dialogue between Bouamama and Maalim provided a platform for constructive exchanges on future cooperation, highlighting shared ambitions to harness technological innovation and consolidate bilateral relations. The meeting follows a period of heightened engagement between Algeria and Somalia, notably marked by the official visit of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to Algiers from 10 to 12 November 2025, signaling the mutual commitment of both countries to deepen strategic, economic, and technological ties.
Minister Bouamama emphasized the importance of advancing joint projects aimed at upgrading communication infrastructures and enhancing digital platforms, positioning Algeria and Somalia at the forefront of Africa’s emerging digital economy.
