Algiers – November 2025 – Algeria and Somalia have reaffirmed their mutual determination to elevate their bilateral relations to new heights, marking a significant step toward deeper cooperation across various sectors. This renewed momentum was underscored by the official visit of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud to Algiers, which began on Monday, as announced by the People’s National Assembly (APN) in an official statement.
Upon his arrival at Houari Boumediene International Airport, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud was warmly received by the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Ibrahim Boughali, who represented President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on this occasion. The reception ceremony reflected the spirit of friendship and solidarity that has long characterized relations between the two nations.
According to the APN communiqué, the visit falls within the framework of consolidating the fraternal and cooperative relations between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Federal Republic of Somalia, with a shared vision of advancing them to a higher and more dynamic level. This initiative aligns with Algeria’s steadfast diplomatic approach to strengthening partnerships with African nations and enhancing regional cooperation based on mutual respect and shared aspirations.
The statement further highlighted that this visit stands as a testament to the historic bonds uniting the two countries and their peoples, as well as to the unwavering commitment of their respective leaderships to expand the scope of partnership and coordination on matters of mutual concern. Both nations share a common vision for stability, development, and solidarity within the African continent, particularly in light of the geopolitical challenges facing the region.
