The high-level assembly convened alongside the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdel Aty, and the United Nations Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, as indicated by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs.
The meeting featured a rich and constructive interactive debate among the foreign ministers, during which the three countries reaffirmed their unified stance in support of the ongoing UN-led political settlement process in Libya. The delegation emphasized the urgent need to restore security, stability, and sovereignty in the brotherly nation, while safeguarding its independence, resources, and territorial integrity.
The joint communiquรฉ emerging from the meeting underlined the indispensable role of Libyan ownership in steering the political process, ensuring the participation of all segments of Libyan society. The ministers stressed that dialogue and consensus must prevail to enable Libya to organize presidential and parliamentary elections, unify its political, military, and economic institutions, and fulfill the legitimate aspirations of its people for security, stability, and prosperity.
Moreover, the communiquรฉ highlighted the tripartite commitment to continued consultation and engagement with Libyan stakeholders to bridge differences and promote the interests of the Libyan people. Significantly, the three nations unequivocally rejected any form of foreign interference in Libyaโs internal affairs and insisted on the immediate withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign combatants from Libyan territory.
