Algeria Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire, Urges Path Toward a Just and Lasting Resolution for Palestine

Algiers – October 2025 – In a principled statement, Algeria expressed hope that the agreement on the implementation of the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip would mark the beginning of a genuine and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause — one that ensures the full restoration of the Palestinian people’s legitimate national rights.
In a communiqué released Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs announced that Algeria had “taken note of the agreement concerning the implementation of the first phase of President Donald Trump’s plan for peace in the Gaza Strip,” describing it as “a first step towards ending the Israeli aggression against the brotherly Palestinian people.”
Algeria “welcomes the immediate ceasefire,” the statement continued, emphasizing that this long-awaited measure — alongside the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid and relief to the people of Gaza — had been persistently demanded by both Algeria and the international community. These efforts, the communiqué noted, reflect Algeria’s consistent stance in favor of ending the suffering imposed on the Palestinian population through occupation and siege.
For decades, Algeria has stood unwaveringly on the side of justice, defending the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people at every regional and international forum. Thursday’s declaration reaffirmed that Algeria views this latest development not as an end, but as a potential turning point toward a comprehensive and durable peace — one that must be founded on international legitimacy and the principles of justice.
“The Algerian government,” the statement concluded, “hopes that this stage will pave the way for a peaceful, lasting, and definitive settlement of the Palestinian question, one that guarantees the Palestinian people all their legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent State on the 1967 borders, with El-Quds as its capital — as recognized by the United Nations and repeatedly reaffirmed through successive international recognitions of the State of Palestine.”
