Algeria Wins ‘Labeitom’ Gold Award for Hajj Services Excellence—for the Second Consecutive Year

Algiers, Algeria | June 9th, 2025 — In a proud moment for Algeria on the global religious stage, the country has been awarded the prestigious Labeitom Gold Award for excellence in Hajj services, for the second consecutive year. The honor was bestowed by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah during the official closing ceremony of the 1446H/2025 Hajj season, held in the holy city of Mecca.

The award recognizes distinguished institutions that provide exceptional care and logistical support to pilgrims. Algeria stood out among other nations for the remarkable quality of its organizational and supervisory efforts throughout the pilgrimage season.

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, who also serves as the Head of the Algerian Pilgrims Affairs Office, personally received the award from his Saudi counterpart, Tawfik Ben Fawzan Al-Rabiah, in a solemn ceremony celebrating outstanding contributions to the sacred pilgrimage.

Speaking to the Algerian Press Service (APS) following the award ceremony, Minister Belmehdi expressed his immense pride in this accolade. “This is not an individual honor,” he said. “It is the fruit of a collective, coordinated national effort involving multiple sectors, both inside and outside the country.” He emphasized that this recognition reflects the unwavering commitment of the Algerian state to ensure the well-being and dignity of its pilgrims.

Belmehdi also highlighted the critical role played by the highest Algerian authorities, whose sustained support enabled the success of the logistical and administrative operation. He affirmed that the Pilgrims Office would continue to modernize its working methods and enhance service delivery mechanisms to further improve the spiritual and physical conditions of Algerian pilgrims.

“This award motivates us to raise our standards even higher,” he concluded. “We are committed to providing our pilgrims with the serenity, comfort, and spiritual focus they deserve as they perform one of the most sacred rites of Islam.”
