President Tebboune and President Mnangagwa Oversee the Signing of Landmark Accords in Key Sectors

Algiers, Algeria– Sunday, July 20, 2025 | In a move to bolster South-South cooperation and deepen bilateral ties, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, presided over a formal signing ceremony on Saturday in Algiers, sealing a series of strategic agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two nations. The high-level event took place during President Mnangagwa’s two-day official visit to Algeria.

The ceremony marked a milestone in the Algeria-Zimbabwe partnership, with the conclusion of several key agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in economic development, education, investment, and cultural exchange.

Among the signed instruments was a comprehensive agreement between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both countries. This accord is expected to significantly boost trade, investment flows, and private sector collaboration between Algiers and Harare. It reflects a shared ambition to foster a more integrated and dynamic economic partnership rooted in mutual respect and common aspirations.

Another pivotal agreement was reached between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency and the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency, laying the groundwork for structured and reciprocal investment promotion strategies. This bilateral framework is anticipated to facilitate easier market access and stimulate joint ventures, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, energy, and manufacturing.

The two presidents also oversaw the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of vocational education and training. This MoU seeks to reinforce technical cooperation, curriculum development, and capacity-building initiatives, particularly in light of both countries’ efforts to modernize their labor markets and promote youth employment.

Further memoranda of understanding were signed in higher education and scientific research, tourism, and national archives. These agreements underscore the two nations’ commitment to academic exchange, cultural diplomacy, and the preservation of collective memory through archival cooperation.

Crowning this diplomatic momentum, a final report of the 4th session of the Algeria-Zimbabwe Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation was jointly endorsed by both parties. The document encapsulates the vision and direction of a reinvigorated strategic partnership between Algeria and Zimbabwe—an alliance deeply rooted in historical solidarity and united by a common pursuit of peace, progress, and a just international order.
