During a high-level meeting in Algiers, both sides discussed enhancing legal collaboration, sharing judicial expertise, and advancing digitalization efforts within their respective judicial systems.

Algiers, Algeria | May 12th, 2025 — As part of Algeria’s continued commitment to strengthening judicial diplomacy and inter-African cooperation, the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boudjemaa, received on Sunday the Chief Justice and President of both the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Luke Malaba, along with an accompanying high-ranking delegation.

The meeting, held in Algiers, brought together senior officials from Algeria’s Ministry of Justice and members of the Algerian Constitutional Court. Discussions centered on deepening bilateral cooperation in the judicial sector, with a particular focus on the exchange of legal expertise, judicial modernization, and the adoption of digital tools in court systems.

A communiqué from the Ministry of Justice highlighted that both parties stressed the importance of institutional dialogue and knowledge-sharing in areas such as constitutional law, judicial training, and the digital transformation of legal proceedings. The visit also underscores Algeria’s openness to cross-border collaboration in support of efficient, transparent, and modern justice systems across the African continent.

This high-level encounter falls within the framework of the official working visit undertaken by the delegation from Zimbabwe’s Supreme and Constitutional Courts to Algeria, scheduled from May 10 to May 13, 2025.

It is worth noting that Zimbabwe currently holds the presidency of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions (CJCA) for the 2024–2026 term. This position reinforces Zimbabwe’s pivotal role in fostering judicial cooperation among African nations, a goal that aligns with Algeria’s vision for a continent grounded in rule of law, institutional integrity, and democratic governance.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to intensifying future collaboration, particularly in legal education, constitutional jurisprudence, and digital justice initiatives.
