Algerian-Austrian Energy Discussions Foster Bilateral Cooperation

ALGIERS- Yesterday, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Mr. Abdulkarim Owaisi, welcomed a delegation from the Austrian Parliament, led by Nico Marchetti, Member of the Austrian Parliament, Head of the Bilateral. Parliamentary Group Austria-North Africa.” The Austrian Ambassador to Algeria was also present during the meeting.

The Ministry of Energy released a statement highlighting the focus of the discussions, which centered around strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. Specifically, the talks revolved around fuels, new and renewable energies, and energy transformation in Algeria.

Both parties also explored potential business and investment opportunities, as well as ways to exchange experiences and expertise between companies from both countries, with a particular emphasis on the development of new and renewable energies.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General provided an overview of the strategy for developing the energy and mining sector in Algeria. This included plans to intensify the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, as well as the development of the new and renewable energies sector. The Secretary-General urged Austrian companies to engage with Algerian sector institutions, invest in energy and mining industrial projects, and establish mutually beneficial partnerships.

Marchetti, on behalf of Austria, expressed his country’s readiness and interest in fostering cooperative relations with Algeria. He emphasized the importance of enhancing economic and trade consultations, as well as exchanging experiences.

Overall, the discussions between Algeria and Austria in the field of energy were productive and aimed at strengthening bilateral ties. Both parties expressed their commitment to exploring opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.
