Algerian Economic Renewal Council Strengthens Automotive Sector with Launch of Handling Committee

๐๐ต๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐ผ โ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ป๐พ๐ช๐ป๐ ๐๐๐๐ โ Algeriaโs Economic Renewal Council (CREA) officially inaugurated the โHandling Committeeโ for the automotive sector during the first edition of the Mechanica exhibition, signaling a major step in the countryโs efforts to modernize its industrial base and boost domestic production.
The committee, chaired by Ali Maamri, aims to consolidate automotive stakeholders under CREAโs umbrella, provide strategic guidance to public authorities, and support companies in enhancing local industrial content. CREA said the initiative is part of a broader plan to transform the automotive industry into a key driver of economic growth, technological development, and job creation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Amine Tazri, Regional Officer of CREAโs Western Office and member of the Executive Bureau, representing Council President Kamel Moula, alongside Mourad Oulad Daoud. CREA described the committee as a specialized body designed to act as a catalyst for development within the sector, reinforcing Algeriaโs industrial ecosystem while promoting competitiveness.
Uniting Stakeholders and Improving Investment Climate
The committeeโs mandate includes fostering collaboration among local manufacturers and suppliers, exchanging expertise, and providing actionable recommendations to improve the investment climate. CREA highlighted its role as a strategic liaison with government authorities, facilitating integration between operators and strengthening domestic supply chains.
From Import Dependence to Local Manufacturing
Mechanica showcased companies that have successfully transitioned from import-focused operations to full-scale local production of auto parts. CREA said this evolution illustrates the councilโs strategy to incentivize value addition and build a sustainable automotive industry in Algeria.
Partnerships and Strategic Agreements
During the event, several partnership agreements were signed between domestic manufacturers and local operators, marking the start of tangible handling projects. CREA said these agreements aim to enhance Algeriaโs position as a regional industrial hub, integrating production, innovation, and strategic collaboration.
The council emphasized that the initiative will create direct and indirect employment opportunities and contribute to building a diversified and resilient industrial base. CREA described the committee as a model for modern sectoral governance, aligning industrial development with long-term national economic priorities.
