Algiers, Algeria | September 2nd, 2024 — Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, has arrived in Beijing to participate in the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Appointed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Attaf’s presence underscores Algeria’s commitment to deepening cooperation with China and engaging in pivotal dialogues concerning Africa’s future.
The ministerial conference, set for Tuesday, serves as a precursor to the 4th China-Africa Summit scheduled for September 5 and 6. The summit, themed “Building a Shared Future for Africa and China,” aims to reinforce bilateral relations and explore collaborative opportunities across economic, political, and socio-cultural sectors.
As noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference will review the progress of existing cooperation programs and partnerships between African countries and China. The summit will also be a platform to establish new goals and strategies that address the mutual interests and aspirations of both regions.
During his visit, Minister Attaf is expected to engage in several bilateral meetings with his African counterparts. These discussions will be instrumental in strengthening Algeria’s role and influence within the context of Sino-African relations.
FOCAC continues to be a critical forum for fostering collaboration between China and Africa. The forthcoming summit is anticipated to play a significant role in shaping future cooperative efforts and addressing the shared challenges faced by both regions.
