Algerian FM Attaf Engages in Bilateral Talks with Equatorial Guinean Counterpart

ALGIERS- Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held discussions on Thursday with his Equatorial Guinean counterpart, Mr. Simeón Oyono Esono Angüe, in the city of Oyala, Guinea Equatorial. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ministerial gathering involving 10 African nations focused on the UN Security Council reform dossier.

In a statement issued by the ministry, the two diplomats emphasized the significance of the summit, particularly against the backdrop of the current international and regional situation. The gathering reflects the common African position advocating for a reform of the Security Council and rectification of the historical injustice imposed on the continent.

The discussions between the two ministers extended to bilateral relations, exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation, particularly in the energy and training sectors. The statement reads, “Both parties agreed to strengthen the regulatory framework of bilateral relations through the upcoming signing of an agreement for the establishment of an economic council for partnership between the two countries.”

The commitment to reinforcing bilateral ties underscores the shared vision for comprehensive collaboration, and the prospective economic council is poised to facilitate structured cooperation, fostering mutual development in Algeria and Equatorial Guinea.
