Algerian Ministers Saihi, Bentaleb Begin Official Visit to Slovenia

Four-Day Mission to Deepen Cooperation in Health, Employment, and Social Security

Algiers, Algeria | June 2nd, 2025 — Algerian Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi and Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Fayçal Bentaleb began a four-day official visit to the Republic of Slovenia on Monday, as part of ongoing bilateral engagements following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s recent state visit to the European country.

This ministerial visit, mandated by President Tebboune, follows the May state visit during which several cooperation agreements were signed between Algeria and Slovenia in key sectors of mutual interest.

According to a joint statement by the Ministries of Health and Labour, the visit includes a series of meetings and discussions with Slovenian counterparts, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting the exchange of expertise and best practices in the areas of healthcare, employment, and social protection.

As part of the program, the Algerian delegation will tour health institutions and companies specializing in prosthetics manufacturing, in order to gain insight into Slovenia’s experience and benefit from its advanced capabilities in the field.

The rehabilitation program for Palestinian children and adolescents affected by the war on Gaza is expected to be among the main items on the agenda. The humanitarian initiative builds on Algeria’s previous efforts to provide care for Palestinian children harmed by the ongoing aggression in Gaza.

The visit also reflects Algeria’s continued commitment to active solidarity diplomacy, rooted in the principles of fraternity and cooperation. It aims to reinforce constructive partnerships with friendly nations in support of just humanitarian causes—foremost among them, the Palestinian cause, the joint statement concluded.
