Algerian Parliament Strengthens Institutional Diplomacy: Bouden Meets Inter-Parliamentary Union Secretary-General

Algiers – November 2025 – In a renewed display of Algeria’s commitment to advancing parliamentary diplomacy and promoting Africa’s voice within global legislative forums, the Vice-Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Monder Bouden, held a high-level meeting in Kinshasa with Martin Chungong, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The discussion took place on the sidelines of the 47th Conference of Speakers of National Parliaments of the African Parliamentary Union (APU), according to a statement released Sunday by the APN.
The meeting formed part of a broader institutional effort to strengthen communication channels between the Algerian Parliament and the IPU, with the objective of exploring new avenues for consultation and cooperation on issues of shared interest. Both delegations reviewed the existing areas of collaboration and discussed ways to deepen them, especially in the fields of parliamentary capacity-building, the promotion of modern legislative practices, and the enhancement of African parliamentary participation in international initiatives focused on peace and development.
Bouden reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering commitment to advancing multilateral parliamentary dialogue. He emphasized the country’s determination to contribute actively to reinforcing Africa’s presence within international parliamentary institutions, underscoring that Algerian parliamentary diplomacy remains firmly aligned with a strategic vision aimed at elevating the continent’s influence on the global stage.
